Knowing God

Today I listened to a speaker by the name of Bill Johnson; he pastors a church in Redding Ca. which is currently and for the past while been deeply involved with God. Now I know that sounds weird saying that this church is deeply involved with God, but surprisingly there are a lot of church’s that are not. There is a verse in Revelation 3:20 which say;

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”

Bill Johnson’s church called Bethel, has been pursuing God for the past years, and only recently within 6 years or so have they seen the power of God in their own lives and in their church, their message is truth and love. It’s what the bible has been telling us for years, yet a lot of church’s would rather follow the traditions of man rather than see the goodness of God and have a deep personal relationship with Him.
I grew up in a Christian home, went to church from birth, went to Sunday school forever, went to a Christian school from kindergarten to my graduating year, I went to youth group for as long as I could, I became a youth leader in that youth group and lead youth for two years, I am now attending a Christian college, and I know that I know that it is possible to:

-grow up in a Christian home

-go to a Christian school

-go to Sunday school

-go to youth group

-lead a youth group

-go to bible college

-graduate bible college

-go to seminary

-do overseas missions

-become a figure head and a leader of a multi-country organization bringing the gospel to all kinds of people

-pastor a church for 25 years

Do ALL of these things, and not know God. There are a lot of reasons behind this, one is that we have allowed a culture that looks good, but hides a lot of sin behind closed doors, another is that we are very ‘works-oriented’ but at the end of the day, it seems to come down to the one question; do you know God, and does He know you?

Think and pray about it

God Bless
