I have spent my whole life in the church, and only now understanding what a relationship with God really looks like. I have said it before and I’ll say it again because it is so important, we cannot expect to grow up in the church and assume we know God. Yes it can be beneficial to grow up in an environment of God, but we need to take it seriously, our relationship with God.
One thing I have noticed is that when human beings do not understand something, they will do one of two things. They will either go after it until they find the answer, or they will make up an answer that fits with their realm of thinking. These are not scientific facts just observations, but I believe they hold some truth. When you realise that you think know everything, is when you need to get back into the word.
I was tired of getting temporary sufficient answers to questions about God and his nature that I had. I didn’t want the person to answer the question; I wanted to know the truth, but evidently we are taught in Sunday school how to answer questions but not a relationship with Jesus (for the most part).
At a summer camp I hear the speaker say this line,
“We need to raise our experience to the level of the word of God, rather than bring the word of God down to the level of our experience.”
Our lives need to be a biblical standard, not a standard that revolves around what goes on around us, whether its teaching that limits God, or the world falling apart around us. We need to hold true to what the bible says and believe it in faith, as well as keeping close to God and intimate with Him. In fact that’s probably the most important thing is to stay close to God.
God Bless
